This month has been a big one for Carter. He got his first tooth on September 15th - the bottom right one. I think the bottom left will come through any day. He has been a terrific teether so far, aside from lots of drool and sleep, he still seems happy as a clam. He also was diagnosed with a boatload of allergies this month: peanuts and eggs, (like Lily) as well as dairy, wheat, and dogs. At his allergy appointment they added dust mites to the list but opted to wait on skin testing him since it wouldn't affect his treatment at this point. He has atopic dermatitis, which is like severe eczema and often a precursor to asthma. We are treating his symptoms right now, but until he is older we can't really do much about his allergies other than avoid the problems. The weirdest part about this whole thing is how it is almost identical to his cousin Will. The allergies themselves, when they became apparent, the symptoms, everything. Odd...apparently Erin and I are to blame. On a positive note, Carter seems completely oblivious to any skin problems/allergies and is still the smiliest baby ever.
After some crying spells that just about killed me, Carter is now sleeping through the night. He takes two naps a day, and does very well going down by himself. He has started to like his binky and loves Raf, his giraffe lovie like Lily's Zeke. We are continuing with fruits and veggies at meals along with nursing or soy formula bottles (he now loves bottles since they aren't dairy - no wonder he fought them so much before). But we haven't really started other foods yet since we have been figuring out what he can and cannot eat.
Also this month, Carter has mastered crawling. He had a modified push-up and flop version before, but now he is really moving. It is so fun to see and Lily is thrilled that Carter can finally come when she calls...
Carter loves drooling, things with tags to chew on, Lily, being outside, nursing, fruit, crawling
Carter does not love being put in his carseat, peas, waiting for food, long photo shoots (again see photo below - now he can escape them, too!)
